We have developed a partnership-collaboration with the National University of Malaysia. This is the first University training program in the country of Malaysia that is in desperate need of more speech and communication therapists in every school. We will be training Speech Therapists to work in three schools with students with special needs:
- Kuala Lumpur school for Autism
- Kiwanis Down Syndrome National Center
- Spastic Children’s Association Center
We will be bringing donated equipment for each of these schools and training their teachers and therapists how to use mobile technology for education and communication. The government of Malaysia will be using this data to provide much-needed speech therapists and equipment to these schools on an ongoing basis! This 2-week long intervention will end in a community-based training on accessibility and education at the International Medical University of Malaysia as a part of their IMU Cares. IMU will be using this as an opportunity to develop their own diagnostic center for students and adults with special needs.
